10 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About the Hop Sun Tap

Tucked away, off the beaten track in Haywards Heath, the Hop Sun Tap is more than just a local craft beer spot — it’s a place full of stories, character, and community spirit. First opening our doors in 2021, we have been busy building our little slice of craft beer goodness and embedding ourselves in the community. As a local, independent business, we have a few our stories to tell! So, whether you’re a seasoned regular or just curious about what makes this place tick, here are 10 things you (probably) didn’t know about the Hop Sun Tap…

1. We’ve Got a Lively History

Before it became your favourite place for a pint, the building was home to a funeral directors… and before that, an abattoir. Thankfully, things are much more cheerful these days.

2. We Don’t Do Pizza (Anymore)

We know, controversial. But what we do have is a tasty line-up of locally sourced bar snacks and light bites — perfectly paired with a Heathen Brewers pint.

3. Home of Heathen Brewers

The Hop Sun Tap is the proud home of Heathen Brewers, who’ve been crafting quality beer right here in Haywards Heath for 10 years and counting. Previously resident in the basement of local deli, Grape & Grain, the Hop Sun become our home in 2021!

4. Late Nights? Yes Please

We’re open later than you might think — till 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, 10pm on Thursdays, and a civilised 7pm on Sundays. Pop in and wind down.

5. Need a Space to Party?

From work dos to birthday bashes, we’ve got flexible spaces available to hire — including the main bar and upstairs. Make your next event extra special! Just get in touch and let’s chat.

6. Real Beer, Brewed Here

All of our Heathen beers are brewed on site by our very own multi-talented head brewer and bar manager extraordinaire, Mark. Your favorite Heathen beers really don’t have to travel far so freshness is guaranteed. Check out what's currently on the taps!

7. Live Music, Comedy & More

We are community focused so there’s always something going on — from local bands and DJ’s, The Sunday Quiz, spoken word to proper belly-laugh comedy nights. Keep an eye on our website events or just swing and see what’s happening!

8. Fancy a Game of Toad?

We’ve got our very own Hop Sun Heathens Toads team and a warm welcome for anyone who fancies giving this classic Sussex pub game a go. Thursdays are your best bet — and yes, we’ll show you how to play!

9. Hop Sun Runs – the social run group with a beer at the end!

Looking to get fit and meet some great people? Join our monthly social run club, held on the second-to-last Thursday each month. Run 5K or 10K with qualified leaders, then enjoy a well-earned beer on the house. All the details here.
