Five Years of The Hop Sun Tap – Here's to You

Five years. Where did that go?

When The Hop Sun first opened its doors, we had a simple idea: brew great beer and create a place where people would enjoy spending time together. What we couldn't have predicted was just how much that little idea would grow.

It's been a rollercoaster. Exciting, exhausting, unpredictable, challenging and, above all,

incredibly rewarding. Like every independent business, there have been moments where

we've wondered what was around the corner. Through it all, one thing has remained constant, the incredible support of our customers, friends and wider community.

Quite simply, we wouldn't be here without you.

Whether you've joined us for a quick pint after work, settled in for a whole afternoon,

celebrated a birthday, brought the family along to an event, laced up your trainers for a run, tested your knowledge on a Sunday afternoon or simply decided this was going to be your local, you've helped make The Hop Sun what it is today.

Over the last five years we've welcomed thousands of people through our doors. What started as a brewery taproom has become something much bigger, a place where friendships have been made, milestones celebrated and countless memories created over a pint.

There have been plenty of highlights along the way. Expanding the taproom gave us the space to dream a little bigger, opening the door to more events, more live music, more celebrations and, most importantly, more people.

Looking around the taproom today, it's hard to imagine it any other way.

Our events calendar has grown year on year and we're incredibly proud that The Hop Sun has become somewhere people know they can come for a great night out, whether that's live music, comedy, beer festivals, food pop-ups or one of our seasonal celebrations. Seeing familiar faces return time and again, while welcoming new ones every month, is something we'll never take for granted.

Then there's Hop Sun Runs, our social run club with a beer at the end. What started as a

simple idea has grown into one of the friendliest running communities around, becoming a regular fixture for so many people. It turns out that a run followed by a well-earned pint is a winning combination.

Of course, no look back would be complete without mentioning our Sunday Monthly Quiz.

What started as a fun Sunday afternoon has become something of a local institution. Head Brewer Mark's increasingly inventive, and occasionally wonderfully bizarre, quiz rounds have earned him something approaching local celebrity status, with teams returning month after month to see what surprises he has in store.

One of the things we're most proud of is the number of different communities that now call The Hop Sun home. From runners and music lovers to gamers, beer enthusiasts and families, there's always been room for everyone. That spirit extends to the Mid Sussex Toads too, with the Hop Sun Heathens becoming a much-loved fixture in the Toads calendar. It's another reminder that bringing people together has always been at the heart of what we do.

None of this would have been possible without our amazing bar team, past and present.

They've created the warm, friendly atmosphere that people tell us keeps them coming back. Their hard work, humour and genuine welcome have shaped The Hop Sun just as much as the beer itself.

And then there are you, our customers. The regulars, the newcomers who quickly became regulars, the visitors passing through and, of course, all of the four-legged friends who've become just as much a part of The Hop Sun as their owners. You've all helped create something that feels truly special.

As we celebrate this milestone, we'd also like to remember Graham. His passion, belief and unwavering support were instrumental in turning the vision of The Hop Sun Tap into a

reality. His enthusiasm helped lay the foundations for everything we've become, and we're proud to continue building on that legacy.

To celebrate turning five, we'll be marking the occasion with a weekend of events from 24th to 26th July. We're putting the finishing touches to the plans, so keep an eye on our social media and around the taproom for all the details. We promise it'll be a weekend well worth joining us for.

Five years is a milestone we're incredibly proud of, but it doesn't feel like the end of anything It feels like we're just getting started. There are more beers to brew, more ideas to bring to life, more events to enjoy and plenty more memories still to make.

So, whether you've been with us since day one or you've only just discovered us, thank you for being part of our story.
